X is shutting down Communities because of low usage and lots of spam

What Happened

X is permanently shutting down its Communities feature, launched in 2021, citing extremely low usage and disproportionate spam problems. Despite being used by less than 0.4% of users, Communities generated 80% of spam reports, financial scams, and malware. The company will redirect resources toward developing XChat instead.
