
Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov won the Chess Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, securing a World Championship match against India's Gukesh Dommaraju. The 20-year-old finished with 9.5 points from 13 games, winning six and losing none. Anish Giri of the Netherlands placed second with 7.5 points. Gukesh currently holds the world title after defeating China's Ding Liren in 2024. Sindarov will now prepare for the championship match against the defending champion.
