In Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu, a Scheduled Tribe couple aged over 40 and 50 cast votes for the first time Thursday after recently obtaining voter IDs. Masi and Govindammal, parents of four daughters, had previously attempted voter registration unsuccessfully. The couple had spent six years trapped in bonded labour in Salem district before their enfranchisement.
