What Happened

Tesla expanded its driverless robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston, making Texas home to three autonomous ride-hailing cities. The company launched Austin service last year and began driverless rides in January 2026. Tesla's Austin robotaxis reported 14 crashes since inception, according to February filings. Currently, limited vehicles operate in new markets.
