
The Geological Survey of India declared Yana Caves in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district a geo-heritage site of national importance on March 4. The 2,700-million-year-old rock formations, composed of dolomitic limestone from the Precambrian era, feature 61 karst formations including the 120-metre Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and 90-metre Mohini Shikhara, created through natural weathering and chemical reactions.
