Mahipat Kavi, renowned puppeteer who championed social change through theatrical puppet performances, died Saturday at his Ahmedabad home aged 97. The Padma Shri awardee (2023) and Sangeet Natak Akademi laureate (2011) founded Puppets & Plays in 1975, creating over hundred puppet plays. Kavi mastered the art from 1960s, using puppetry for mass communication and theatre throughout his distinguished career spanning decades.
