Europol and partners trace 45 ‘forcibly transferred’ Ukrainian children

What Happened

Europol traced 45 Ukrainian children forcibly transferred to Russia, Belarus, or occupied territories during the Russia-Ukraine war. The EU law enforcement agency used open-source intelligence during a two-day hackathon involving 40 experts from 18 countries. Kyiv reports 19,546 children forcibly taken since February 2022. Some were adopted by Russians; others remain in re-education camps or psychiatric hospitals.
