What Happened
A heavily overcrowded 42-seater bus carrying over 60 passengers skidded off a mountainous road and plunged approximately 30 meters into a gorge in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday morning. The accident killed at least 21 people, with 19 dying at the scene and two succumbing to injuries in hospital. Approximately 45 others sustained injuries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and announced relief for victims' families.
