West Bengal achieved over 91% voter turnout during the first phase of 2026 Assembly elections Thursday, its highest ever. The Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision exercise removed 91 lakh names from electoral rolls since October, reducing the denominator. This explains the exceptional turnout compared to 81.56% in 2021 and 84.33% in 2011.
